it was not enough for a complete equalization, therefore we must charge the already mentioned additional fee. Here we are now in a position, where we can fine tune this very well. This is more complex, because in the air freight we are running a broker business; that means, we are buying for instance capacity in a machine and we are reselling it to our customers. Two things are happening here: on the one hand a dramatic collapse of the transported air freight volume, that is on the demand side, on the other hand the scarcer supply at the offering side, because many passenger planes remained on the ground. About half of the air freight is normally flying in the body of passenger machines.The sudden cancellation has led to rates going up. that is why we where able to achive a good result for air freight at significantly lower volumes. How will this continue in 2021 ? For this, two factors are decisive. How quickly is the demand coming back ? And how quickly is the capacity coming back ? Our present hypothesis is this: The demand will come back faster than the intercontinental passenger flights. We also calculate for 2021 with scarce capacities and thus with higher prices at air freight. The Group will employ until yearend additional 10000 support employees for the delivery and sorting of packages. In addition, more than 13000 extra will be put in service vehicles. Are the additional costs matching the additional revenue in Christmas time ? This I can answer finally only at the beginning of next year.
